Omg, Yay, yay, yay, YAY!
I awoke this morning to my cellphone; boss was calling to find out where I'd put such and such paperwork... meh... tried to roll over and go back to sleep, but there was someone at the door.
So I got up. Astrid had already answered and low and behold: two boxes with Zy's name on them. One felt empty. The other was much too light to be the monitor he said he was expecting. So I called him to let him know his stuff was here.
Sneeky sweetheart told me to take the packages to the bedroom "omg right noaw" and then to open them while he was on the phone. The Kitty was confused but starting to get the idea that these boxes weren't actually for Zy.
So I open the boxes, and one is a laptop case.
...
Suspiciously, I opened the big one, and started crying. Zy bought me a laptop! <3 Oh my god... it's too pretty for acronyms... I seriously cried on the phone. I've needed a new computer forever, Avie is so very old and decrepit.
It's an Acer Aspire 5520 w/ AMD Turion 64x2 1.9 and 2G of Ram.
I am having a girly nerdgasm.

Edit: I am at work... you all remember how much the wireless at work sucks, right? I get a signal, but the instant I try to do anything it disconnects? Not anymore! This laptop has had a deathgrip on the wifi signal for over an hour, no burps, hickups, or anything. It's even 29% through an 800MB download only 30 min into it. ...<3 I am soOoOo happy... *bouncy giddy happy wonderful joy stuffs* <3

Holy Snippers...
My WoW account has been... cracked o.o
Not even fucking joking.
Thank the gods for Gmail auto-notifications. I was just sitting here, chatting, minding my own damn business when I get the pop up "Changes have been made to your World of Warcraft Account"
Buuwaah? No, they haven't... o.O Wasn't me... so I click the window to check my email.... my fucking passwords been changed. Holy hell...
So Tim suggests I try to recover it. Luckily, my secret question is still in tact. So I got my account back, and changed the password right away.
So I go to account management, and find that a discover card has been added to the account, and the month is paid for.
I do not own a discover card... never have.
Hopefully, with my new password of uber wftbbq, it'll be ok. Didn't want to log in using someone elses card, but if it's a friend of mine being overly eager to suprise me, it's cool... and if it's a thief, serves the bastards right: I only wanted to make sure I still had all my gold. My meager 9 gold peices. *empty laughter*
I only logged in once: I don't want to use time I didn't pay for. I emailed blizzard.
This has never happened before. So crazy.

I feel bad...
It's the first day of school after spring break, and I woke up in a snarly mood. I feel bad for snapping at Zy, and I tried to explain that I don't think I'm actually mad -at- him, but a few things he did helped condition the mood.
He's been complaining lately that our sleep schedules don't match, and how tired he is all the time, and how he sleeps away his days off.
Well gee... it's 8AM, I'm getting ready for school and you haven't slept yet honey; you were up all night playing WCIII and Half Life.
Which is another reason I'm pissy: I've gotten used to the sounds of WoW, I can sleep through just about any raid, but the sounds of WCIII and Half Life are not so conditioned into my brain. Usually you play those when other people are -awake- to play with you, so every 5 - 15 minuets I was getting startled awake by the sound of something exploding. Early on, I asked you to make it stop, but that was WCIII. When you switched games, the noises changed again and I was getting woke up.
I was sleepy... too sleepy to think rationally. Every time I got woke up, I thought "Oh... huh?...meh" and went back to sleep. It wasn't until you actually, purposely woke me up to ask when I needed to be up (helpful in nature, I understand that, thank you) that I realized what time it was, and how little sleep I'd gotten. Que bitchiness.
Instantly it was your fault, because you're the one who was making things explode all night 3 feet from your sleeping wifes head, and you'd been complaining that you sleep all day, and we don't sleep together so you're not getting your daily recommended cuddles.
Zy. Think about that for a sec. Why could that possibly be? It's 8am... and you haven't gone to bed because you were blowing shit up.
I love you honey, I'm sorry I snapped at you. Please start using the $50 headphones I bought you... and if they can't be used like that, like normal headphones that keep others from hearing your computer noise, wft $50?

More Computer Stuff
So, everyone's got a different opinion on what kind of computer I should buy, but I don't have the know-how to make a decision so I started reading reviews.
I just read an apple powerbook review, found here, and although it sounds like a badass machine, it gets hot... really really hot, to the point that sterility jokes were made about actually setting it in your lap - and that was one of my biggest complaints with my old Averatec.
I'm going to go find reviews on all the other brands that were recomended now.
Unlike my first car, this will be a well planned purchase!

Last Legs of a Laptop
My laptop has been awesome... Avie has been a good girl, but she is old and a few functions are starting to shut down. I think it's time to retire the old girl and start thinking about a new computer.
"Avie" is my AVERATEC 6100, which I bought in 2003 for around $1200. (The person I bought her for claims to have spent $3000, but he owed me money.)
She has a duel core Pentium(R)4
3.0 GHz CPU with Hyper Threading
512MB of Ram. Her screen is 1280 X 800
and she's running Windows XP Home with SP2.
Her ram is upgradeable, she has two chips right now totaling the 512, so if I got two of these I could upgrade her to 2 Gigs! :3
Avie has been a doll. I love her to death. She can run WOW decently enough for me to have leveled a couple characters, she handles The Sims 2 brilliantly, Photoshop with the Wiacom tablet attached, and all sorts of nifty.
At first, we had some problems, because Leif reformatted her before service pack 2 was released and used a bootleg copy of windows; she froze up a lot of my programs and I had to do a complete backup and reformat. Then I realized how hot Averatecs will get: all her feet melted off while I was leveling my old night elf... apparently this was a common problem in desktop replacements her age?
But after a reformat, new feet, a cooling pad, and regular defrags she's been a good girl for going on five years now.
The messed up thing is, a few days ago I was doing my thing to take care of her; did a good system scan in safe mode, compressed and defraged, and then I took got out the can of air. Now, I was very careful: I unplugged her and took out the battery before I started taking panels off but something went fubared when I took out her CD drive because when I put it back in, it no longer worked.
I had Zy look at it, and he says it's dead. Yay... -.- He says I probably didn't ground my feet properly and got some static off the couch. Tim agrees that it is dead.
So now that I don't have a CD drive, if I need to reformat I can't. Nor can I play the Sims2 anymore. Zy suggested I buy a usb cd-drive but I'm so close to buying a new laptop at this point it would be silly to keep trying to drag her out. I have, however, promised her to someone else so I'm going to call Averatec and see how much it costs for a refurb. If they can't refurbish her, then I'll buy the external disk drive.
That way she'll be in decent shape for her new owner.
Question I'm proposing to everyone else is, what type of new laptop should I get? I have people on all sides telling me to get an Asus, a Mac, a Toshiba, a Dell... Why? What's better about one or the other and why would they appeal to a silly little artist / rper?

New Header!
Whee! That was fun!
I decided to customize my blog, so I made the graphic now seen in my header. I had meant to put a good picture of me, or at least my own art, where the anime girl is but I have no worthy photo's right now and my camera's batteries are $10. (Kinda broke) Brought the laptop to work to make my own anime self-depiction and... forgot the fucking stylis at home.
Oh well, it turned out nice. Zy gave it a 7/10 :3
Might fix it later. Wish I could customize the rest of the page a bit better, but the options with blogger are a bit limited unless I want to get into full blown HTML. Not really feeling that at the moment.
For the record, the title means "Near to my Sweetheart" and it is an old ass French drinking song. :3 Google "French slang, blonde" and it will be like the 4th or 5th hit.

OMG Mid-Term!
Yay! I'm so giddy right now!
I got out of Poli Sci about half an hour ago. The class is schedualed to get out right now, but today was mid-term. I finished early, had plenty of time to check all my answers, and was free to go a full half hour early. I pranced a little and then went to dick off in the computer lab.
I feel really good about the test. I had no problem at all with any of the short, long, or essay questions. I think I may have missed 2 or 3 multiple choice, but that's still a good chance I got an A.
I'm so happy!
