I Did It! All By Myself!!! (Solongassoftwaredoesntcount)

I was finally able to completely fix the space issue on my hard drive.

My 120Gig drive had been separated into two 60G partitions; one for programs and one for user files, downloads, pictures, documents ECT. Only thing is, that really doesn’t work for me… who has 60G worth of photos? Seriously…

So the primary partition was full and my computer was having all the sluggish, fat-man-after-a-buffet lethargic behavior of thinking its’ hard drive was maxed out. Booting was taking 2-5 min and I had to uninstall 4 gigs worth of stuff just to make room for Echos of Doom!

Turns out though, that you can’t just reverse that shit manually through windows – you have to get other software for it. It took me forever to find something Vista compatible, and once I had something, there were no instructions so I had to figure it out by myself… which was a pain. I got the warning “Doing this may cause Windows to be unable to boot” about 4 times… and had to back out and try something different.

I eventually decided that I had to clear all the data from one of the two partitions, delete the empty one (64 gigs) and then expand the remaining partition to absorb the unassigned space left over from the deletion. (The command to “delete all partitions” was one of the ones that yelled warnings at me, so I wasn’t going there.)

Now I have 70 free gigs on my hard drive again! Whee!!

I know the guy that did it had good intentions, but this is the third time I’ve taken advice from someone else and had a catastrophe (or major inconvenience) as a result. Two of them were this week even. From now on, advice is nice but I’ll be doing things my way and myself. If I’d followed my original plan with my car, it would still be running, and I see no logic in letting people work on my computer when Google is the best professor anyone ever had.

Nobody is touching my computer any more unless I’m paying them – that way if they fuck it up I can harass them to do a better job when they fix it again for free – or give me my money back so I can take it to someone else. Rinse, repeat.

Countdown To Chaos

Oh Goody…

Today is the 9th of October, and that means exactly one month from my birthday. I’m going to be 23 and I think I want to actually do something about it.

Zy’s going to be exhausted from his trip, so I’m not sure how much fun we’ll be able to have. He’s getting back the day before my birthday, and he expects to be completely drained from the cross country travel. I don’t know how much attention I’ll be able to coax out of him, especially since he’ll have missed the release of WotLK. I’m going to do the midnight-wait-in-line thing for him. It will be on his desk when he gets home and I’m predicting a 60% chance that he’ll probably want to stay home and play catch up with his guild rather then get dressed and drive to Eureka to sit and eat for 2 hours with other people.

With that in mind, and the fact that car troubles caused him to miss work all this month, I really can’t ask for much. I’d like to do something a little bit more grand then sitting at home drinking and watching movies though. I’d kind of like to go out to dinner… but if an at-home thing is all we can afford, I should probably put in the request for stuffed-crust now, huh?

Actually... Hell Why Not... Can't get anything unless you ask...

I'm not expecting anything... but it never hurts, right?

The only thing I’m actually setting my heart on from anyone else is the cake I said I wanted; Costco All-American Chocolate.

It’s crack-cake to me like Monster is… well, just crack… to Zy. I haven’t had it in *thinks* damn, 3 years though. You can only get it at Costco (obviously) and it’s so fucking rich and expensive I try not to buy it unless it’s a special occasion. I had no cake for my 21st birthday, and Ruby made a cake from scratch for my 22nd. I may even buy it myself if it looks like no one else is going too – even though that’s technically against the girl laws of birthdays. XD

I hate doing that though. It makes me feel kind of unloved. Lol.
